KS2 – KS3 Transition
Transition liaison meetings with primary school teachers / senior leaders, which includes careful discussion about all pupils in relation to their social and personal, curriculum, pedagogical and managing learning needs, are conducted by the Assistant Principal and Head of Year 7. This dialogue permits the early identification of individual needs in order to facilitate a smooth transition to Eden Boys’ School and encourage rapid progress to be made from the start of year 7.
To ensure progression in learning, year 7 Curriculum delivery plans for all subjects build on the curriculum covered at primary school as well as KS2 and CATS data. Teachers are also trained in KS2 curriculum and assessment requirements to inform planning for progression. In year 7 PSHE during the first half term, pupils are taught how to manage transition, develop and maintain friendships and understand rights and responsibilities.
Pupils are set challenging targets for each subject at the start of the year and supported to achieve these.
