Transition

Welcome Address by the Principal

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope that you and your families are well and that you are coping with “the new normal” during this difficult period of the Covid-19 pandemic.  I know how difficult life has been for children and adults with the long break from school routine that has punctuated everyone’s learning and development.  Despite this, I hope your son is looking forward to joining the Eden school family and that he is not is not too nervous about joining us this September. Whilst I met most of you during our Open Evenings, I am writing to you to give you all a warm welcome to Eden Boys’ School and to congratulate you for selecting, and gaining, a place for your son in our Year 7 from September 2020.

Whether you have sons here already or you are new to Eden, I hope that the next academic year is really successful for your son.  I am always impressed with how Year 7s settle into life at Eden Boys’ School and I look forward to seeing the new intake make a successful entry into our Outstanding School. What impresses me the most is how Year 7 boys come with a positive attitude towards starting such a big new school.  Regardless of how daunted they feel, they always show true resilience. I am a big believer in encouraging independence in children and ensuring that we develop young people not just from a successful academic point but that we develop the whole child to be socially responsible citizens.  This is why our STAR values of Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect underpin everything that we do and strive for.  All our staff live and breathe these values and we hope to instil these same characteristics into your son as we believe that these core elements are vital to success in and out of school.

My dedicated team of staff are busy planning the learning journey for your son; ready to start in September.  My teachers work night and day to ensure learning is fun, engaging and geared towards every child doing their best – in fact doing even better than their best!  My pastoral staff, led by Mr Matadar, are always on hand to ensure you and your sons are looked after, cared for and supported every single day of their school life.  Can I ask all parents to build strong relationships with your son’s Head of Year as he will be a key person in your son’s school life.  I will introduce you to your son’s Head of Year in due course.

Our Islamic ethos is both distinctive and special to us at Eden and we hope to support, guide, develop and build your son’s understanding of his role within British society using his faith, character and behaviours to demonstrate the best things about being a Muslim in this great country of ours.  We believe that our ethos brings people of all faiths and no faith together and that we can all learn to respect everyone despite all of our differences and celebrate the things that make us unique and special.

Can I close my welcome by saying that your son’s mental health and well-being in these tragic times is crucial and that it is important that families come together with love, care and dedication now more than ever.  Sometimes something as simple as a smile can brighten up a child’s mood and it is these small actions that can sometimes have the biggest impact on a child’s day.

Stay safe, stay alert and be the best version of you!

Mrs N Patel
